A Message from the Organising Secretary

“Evolution in GI surgery: Reaching across uncharted horizons”

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is our proud privilege to welcome you to the IASGCON 2027 – the 37th National Meeting of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology (IASG), being organized by the Dept of Surgical Gastroenterology, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, from 21st - 24th Oct 2027.

After nearly two decades, we are delighted to bring the IASGCON back to Lucknow to one of the largest and most distinguished departments of surgical gastroenterology in the country.

IASGCON 2027 promises to be an academic feast with a difference. The scientific program is dedicated to the theme of reaching across the less emphasized domains of GI Surgery, through state-of-the-art lectures, orations by legends, workshops, panel discussions, and much more.

We intend to explore GI Surgery beyond the conventional - including complex abdominal wall reconstruction (AWR) for the GI surgeon, Robotics for the young surgeons, video and image editing workshop, financial planning and literacy sessions, and other practical skills that can contribute to a more complete GI surgical career.

Beyond this academic feast we invite you to discover the timeless charm of Lucknow – the city of Nawabs, to taste the Awadhi culture, explore the Imam Bara, go Chikankari shopping and feast on the Tunde kebabs. Then there is the rest of the state of Uttar Pradesh to explore - Ram Nagari, Ayodhya; moksha Nagari Kashi; city of the Taj, Agra; the abode of Krishna, Mathura and more.

We’ll be happy to help you plan your travel to enable you and your families to experience the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Uttar Pradesh.

The team of IASGCON 2027 is looking forward to welcome you to an inspiring celebration of science, learning, friendship and the spirit of surgical excellence, that is quintessential Lucknow.

Mark your calendars and join us in Lucknow from 21st - 24th Oct, 2027

With warm regards,

Prof. Rajneesh Kumar Singh

A Message from the President, IASG

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is both an honour and a profound responsibility to assume the mantle of President of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology, IASG, for 2026–27 at the IASGCON 2026, Bhubaneswar.

A year later we propose to reconvene at IASGCON 2027 at SGPGI, Lucknow, which has been a Mecca of Surgical Gastroenterology for decades.

The theme for IASGCON 27 is "Evolution in GI surgery: Reaching across uncharted horizons", as we acknowledge that in an era of countless conferences, many topics have been discussed to exhaustion. This meeting, is committed to moving beyond the familiar and deliberately explore unconventional territories—robotic and AI-enabled surgery, metabolic and transplant immunology, surgical oncology in the age of precision medicine, global disparities in GI care, and the often-neglected humanistic dimensions of our practice. The goal is to spark original thought, foster innovation, and ensure that every advance we champion translates into tangible improvements for our patients.

I invite your active participation, bold ideas, and shared vision as we redefine the horizons of surgical gastroenterology in India and beyond.
